NEW HOTEL DEVELOPMENTS IN LOS ANGELES 2017 – 2020

Scores of new hotels are springing up all over Los Angeles County - whether a five-star luxury resort, a cutting-edge boutique hotel or a renovated historic building. Currently there are 32 new hotels under construction and an additional 34 in final planning stages countywide. These 57 hotel projects will deliver more than 9,600 new hotel rooms to the L.A. County area by 2020.

2017

Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles

Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles, a hip 350-room hotel, is now open. The 18-story Hotel Indigo is the flagship hotel at Metropolis, a $1 billion mixed-use development which will feature three residential towers and a curated retail experience. The property sits at the heart of Downtown L.A., linking the Financial District to of L.A. LIVE. Design for the hotel is inspired by its surrounding neighborhood and will focus on prominent narratives from Downtown’s past including Fiesta De Las Flores, the glamorous pre- Hollywood nightlife scene and the underground speakeasies of the roaring twenties.

Dream Hollywood Hotel

The West Coast’s first Dream Hotel debuted in the eart of Hollywood on Selma and Cahuenga in July 2017. Designed by the award winning Rockwell Group, the 10-story boutique luxury Dream Hollywood Hotel features 179 hyper-chic rooms and suites, unique-to-market dining experiences and a rooftop pool and lounge.

Freehand Hotel and Hostel

Sydell Group introduced the Freehand Hotel and Hostel in May 2017 after transforming the 1924 Commercial Exchange Building in Downtown L.A.’s Historic Core. The 13-story building boasts 226 rooms, ranging from traditional accommodations to high-design hostels (or “poshtels”) with up to eight beds. The hotel also features a lobby living room, retail, restaurant and bar offerings in addition to a rooftop pool and lounge.

Cambria El Segundo LAX

Choice Hotels International’s upscale Cambria brand entered the Los Angeles area with the opening of Cambria El Segundo LAX. Opened in May 2017, the hotel is developed by Fillmore Hospitality and features 152 rooms and a bistro called Social Circle. The hotel is located about two miles south of Los Angeles International Airport.

The Everly

Boutique brand Kimpton Hotels delivered The Everly Hollywood, a new 216-room hotel in late July 2017. The hotel celebrates its Hollywood Beachwood Canyon neighborhood and laid-back California lifestyle with a rooftop pool deck.

The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills

The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is a new 12-story, 170-room luxury hotel at the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards in Beverly Hills. Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills boasts inspirational cuisine from award-winning chefs, a rooftop pool and lounge, lobby bar and upscale exclusive retail. The hotel opened in June 2017.

InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown

InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown at Wilshire Grand Center stands 73 stories tall and features 889 luxury rooms, a sky lobby on the 70th floor, 95,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, a high-end steakhouse on the 71st floor and a rooftop bar and lounge on the 73rd floor. Opened in June 2017, it is the tallest building west of Chicago at 1,100 feet.

The Jeremy West Hollywood Hotel

Open August 2017, The Jeremy West Hollywood Hotel has moved in on the corner of Sunset and La Cienega and features stunning panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills and Los Angeles Basin. The hotel has 286 guestrooms with two Penthouse Suites that all feature panoramic Hollywood Hills views. The hotel features over 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event spaces, including The Great Room and The Overlook, which are designed to inspire and engage the creative industries with well-designed, highly functional and tech-forward spaces.

NoMad Los Angeles

Sydell Group (The Line Hotel) will transform Giannini Place, a historic 1923 building in Downtown Los Angeles, into NoMad Los Angeles in November 2017. The 12-story hotel will feature 250 guest rooms with custom-designed furnishings and original artwork. Guests will have access to a rooftop pool boasting panoramic views of the city. NoMad will also offer multiple food and beverage venues, in addition to 1,000-square-foot of retail and meeting rooms.

2018

Downtown L.A. Proper

Proper Hotels is slated to open Downtown L.A. proper, a high-end lifestyle boutique hotel geared toward leisure and business travelers, in spring 2018. The 13-story hotel will boast 145 guest rooms, two unique presidential suites as well as a rooftop with a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. The historic 1924 building is located at 11th and Broadway.

The West Hollywood EDITION

The first U.S. West Coast property under Marriott International and Ian Schrager’s Edition lifestyle brand will open on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip in early 2018. Developed by the Witkoff Group and New Valley, the hotel will have 190 rooms.

2019

Park Hyatt at Oceanwide Plaza

Oceanwide Plaza, a $1-billion mixed-use development project across STAPLES Center, will include L.A.’s first hotel under the Park Hyatt luxury badge with 184 rooms and 34 suites and more than 150,000 square feet of commercial retail space when it opens in early 2019.

2020

W Los Angeles Downtown

The W Los Angeles Downtown is slated to open in Q2 2020. The 250-room property will be located across the street from L.A. LIVE and STAPLES Center and will be the W brand’s third location in Southern California. The hotel will feature a spa, outdoor pool deck and destination restaurants along with approximately 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Hotel Clark

Hotel Clark will deliver a 347-room hotel just north of Pershing Square in Downtown L.A. The 11-story renovated 113-year-old historic building will feature guest rooms with lively Mod-style details, a ballroom, a pool deck and multiple dining  spaces.

Trinity/Embassy Hotel

A 1914 historic building will be fully resorted as the 183-room Trinity/Embassy Hotel and will boast the historic Trinity Auditorium, a stunning ballroom, a rooftop pool deck and a restaurant/bar with outdoor patio.
