Machfu Joins the Industrial Internet Consortium

Industrial Internet-of-Things Company Machfu Joins the Industrial Internet Consortium

Machfu’s expertise in vertical markets across the industrial space will let customers simplify the complex problem of secure system integration of legacy devices and modern sensors to the cloud and SCADA

Machfu, today announced that they have joined the Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC™), the world’s leading organization transforming business and society by accelerating the adoption of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Machfu will bring to the IIC its specialization in IOT connectivity to legacy devices and modern sensors to both the cloud and SCADA systems. Machfu  aims to work with IIC member companies to uncover industry solutions that interoperate with a wide variety of devices, including devices that speak legacy protocols.

With the advances that Machfu has made in the IIoT protocol translation between devices and head-end systems, happening at the edge, Machfu’ s addition to the IIC roster strengthens an already impressive portfolio of members. By using a secure sandboxed application space, the Machfu edge Gateway, removes many of the traditional and costly barriers to implementing IIoT.

Machfu plans to bring its unique technology to IIC members who are interested in exploring and considering them. This includes such things as adding new applications during the system lifecycle, deleting applications, adding or deleting devices seamlessly, and extending the life of legacy devices to the fullest.

Dr. Richard Soley, Executive Director, IIC, said, "We are delighted to have Machfu as a member of the IIC. Its knowledge and experience with the integration of legacy devices and sensors to the cloud and SCADA systems will be valuable as we work together to accelerate the adoption of IIoT in industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, smart cities, production, energy grids, and others.”

How Machfu Gateway Works

Machfu’s gateway platform has the hardware interfaces, device protocol libraries, cloud protocol libraries and legacy SCADA system connections to enable connecting any industrial device to any back-end system easily. In addition, the sustaining value of the product comes from the software that uses the Android user space to create a sandboxed application environment. The significance of the sandboxed application environment is that new applications can be easily deployed, and services added during the useful life of the system (similar to application downloads on smart phones). Since these systems are long lived, many changes occur in communication technologies, application protocols, security threats and realizable business opportunities.

The Machfu platform allows the end customer to adapt to all of these changes throughout the life of the deployed equipment for maximizing value. Such a robust platform is not currently available in the market today either from cloud vendors, or from other Gateway providers. The industrial space is highly fragmented and is looking for such a solution.

Machfu CEO Prakash Chakravarthi, said, "At Machfu we're happy to be joining the IIC, bringing into consideration the large number of insecure legacy devices that could participate in IoT but currently cannot. Systems Integration of disparate IoT devices with multiple head-end systems is an enormously complex challenge, but Machfu's unique approach to networking and applications make it possible. In addition, security is baked in and not bolted on. At Machfu, we're looking forward to using our expertise in IoT interoperability to work with IIC members.”
