MGMA 2017 Annual Conference

E&M Auditing (Advanced) Webinar

The 2018 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule is out with suggested changes to E/M Guidelines. Now is the time to give feedback before September 11, 2017.

CodingAID is hosting a two-part webinar series where we discuss some of the biggest grey areas within E/M.

DESCRIPTION:
Part 1 - In part one, we will cover all those problematic gray areas of E & M auditing, and the importance of knowing your Medicare carriers guidelines. We will also cover the documentation we need to see to give the providers credit for the work they do in the History, Exam and Medical Decision Making. Some other hot topics will include:
• The Nature of the Presenting Problem and Medical Necessity
• NPP rules: Is “Incident-to” really a good option for your providers?
• Do you have a residency program that follows the “Primary Care Exception Rule”?
• What happens when a 4 level services is provided but the Teaching Physician does not see the patient?
• When to bill an E & M visit with a procedure. Is everyone clear on this yet?

Part 2 - In part two, we will look at inpatient services. Some areas we will cover include:
• Inpatient versus Observation “POS 21 or 22”
• Consults in the ED when the patient is not admitted
• Admit and Discharge Same Day. Do we need 2 visits and 2 notes?
• Can multiple subsequent visits be billed on the same day?

If you have any questions that you would like to send us in advance, we will do our best to incorporate them into the webinar content. Email us at webinar@managedresourcesinc.com
