Singapore Botanic Gardens partners with To Be Calm to create beautiful home fragrances

Luxurious, yet affordable home fragrance retailer, 'To Be Calm', known for their beautiful fragrances, unique gifting offerings and stunning Seasonal Candles is delighted and honoured to be selected to create fragrances for the Singapore Botanical Gardens.

Headquartered in Singapore, To Be Calm's Owner & Creative Designer, Cherylynne Clews was commissioned to create two fragrances that captured 'the essence' of the beautiful 158-year-old Singapore Botanical Gardens. Quite a complex task, given the diversity of plants throughout the gardens 82-hectares. Cherylynne shared: 'I set about studying the garden at different times of the day, smelling the different aromas that the flowers and trees released, trying to determine amongst this beautiful cocaphony of scent, what would be the most memorable fragrance to transport back to the homes of visitors'. With the humidity at its peak, the most predominant fragrance was a delightful mixture of White Florals, heady Japonica & Jasmine, delicate Gardenia and ever so subtle Orchid'.

'The second fragrance was inspired by spending time in the Healing Garden, within the Botanic Gardens. The Healing Garden showcases over 400 varieties of plants used medicinally. It is laid out thematically relating to component parts of the body such as head, respiratory and reproductive systems. Spread over 2.5 hectares, this garden is designed as a tranquil retreat with medicinal plants traditionally used in Southeast Asia as the main focus. 'As I wanted to reflect the healing nature of plants I chose to use pure essential oils of Lemongrass, Rosemary & Ginger, designed to provide an energising and clearing fragrance for the mind & body'.

These two Garden inspired fragrances; Herbal Haven & Orchid Medley are available in luxury reed diffusers, packaged with beautiful botanical drawings of the plants involved. They are thoughtfully designed to transport one back to their visit or share the pleasure of one's experience in these heritage listed gardens.

About Botanical Gardens

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a 158-year-old tropical garden located at the fringe of Singapore's Orchard Road shopping district. It is one of three gardens, and the only tropical garden, to be honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Established in 1859, the 82-hectare Gardens has a rich variety of historical landscapes and is an outstanding example of a British colonial garden in the tropics. It is also dedicated to the study of tropical botany and plant conservation in South East Asia.
