Soest: work with the customer towards the best solution,

The product and the need of the customer, that’s what it is all about at Soest machinery from Wormerveer, the Netherlands. This is evident from the huge test facility which Soest has set up in addition to the construction factory in Wormerveer. "It's really the only way to provide the best answer to the question from a customer," says director Richard van Soest. "Our customers come from every continent with their wood, oil, problems and functional ideas and together we create the best possible technical solution, what the customers experience here is what they can expect in practice"

Father Herman van Soest and sons David and Richard began in 1983 with the development of machines intended for finishing wood products with lacquer, stain, oil or wax. "At the time we lay emphasis on furniture, but when we saw 15 years ago to upcoming hardwood flooring market, we have changed our strategy," said Richard. "It opened a new era for SOEST, the market shifted from transparent varnish to color” Suddenly machines had to change rapidly between colors and the key word was flexibility.

Natural look

A similar revolution SOEST forecasted in the composition of application materials. The traditionally most often used lacquers were replaced by oil; first by oxidative (air drying) oils and later by UV (Ultra violet) oils. Richard: "Oxidative Oils give a much more natural look and oil producers have put considerable steps to develop natural oil with rapid UV curing. Thanks to our good relationship with the oil producers worldwide we could follow this development closely and adapt our machines were necessary"

This has resulted in a industrial production line where the floorboards enter the production line untreated and come out the production line as desired; distressed, wire-brushed, oiled, polished, dried and packed. … and now, SOEST supplies these production lines worldwide. Even to customers who previously only sold untreated floorboards as they thought finishing with Oxidative Oils or lacquers or UV oil or lacquers were too time consuming.
