ABC Action News Highlights Black Dagger Military Hunt Club's effort to help wounded veterans heal

Black Dagger Military Hunt Club, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Tampa Bay providing shooting, hunting, fishing and other outdoor opportunities for veterans and active duty military.  Even though they are based in the Tampa Bay area, they operate around the state working with James A. Haley VA Hospital’s Adaptive Sports Program in Tampa, the USSOCOM Care Coalition and active duty military members on MacDill AFB.

Dave Winters, President of Black Dagger Military Hunt Club, Inc. says they work to help our American heroes recovering from and learning to adjust to life with spinal cord injuries (SCI), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), loss of sight, and post-traumatic stress (PTS).  We have specialized equipment to accommodate some of the most injured military heroes thus helping our honored veterans find their “new normal”.

Winters say they are making the impossible, possible for these people.  Just as an example, they help amputees, even a blind wounded warrior learn to shoot and hunt again.  An organization that is 100-percent volunteer based.  Winters says that means about 97-cents of every dollar goes back to the organization and the veterans they serve.

Here’s where you come in.  The organization is one of hundreds of non-profits hoping for donations in the 2015 Give Day Tampa Bay online give-a-thon starting at midnight on Tuesday, May 5.  It’s basically a 24 hour day of giving to raise money for local non-profits community wide. To donate to their cause, go to GiveDayTampaBay.com starting at midnight to directly help veterans in the Tampa Bay area.
