The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Adds Klas Telecom Products to the Approved Products List (APL)

Klas Telecom announced today that three key rugged network modules in the Voyager remote networking product portfolio were added to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Unified Capabilities (UC) Approved Products List (APL) ( https://aplits.disa.mil/) June 12, 2014. Any DoD component is now officially able to procure the Klas Telecom VoyagerESR, VoyagerSW24, and VoyagerVM and operate them over all DoD network infrastructures.

DISA certified the VoyagerESR, a Cisco 5915 ESR-based routing and switching module, as a Customer Edge Router (CER), theVoyagerSW24, a Cisco ESS 2020-based Layer two switch, as an Access IP Switch, and the VoyagerVM, a virtual machine server, as a Local Session Controller (LSC). All three networking modules are thoroughly rugged, maintain low SWaP, have a form factor of 7.4” W x 6.3” L x 2” H, and are part of the modular and scalable Klas Telecom Voyager deployable networking system. (YouTube video of the system here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs15lmmejtw&feature=youtu.be).

The UC APL is the single approving authority for all DoD agencies in the purchasing and operating of communications equipment to be fielded across the Defense Information Systems Network. The UC APL consists of hardware and software products that have completed Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) interoperability (IO) and Information Assurance (IA) testing and is, therefore, the only approved set of hardware and software equipment purchasable by DoD components.

“Although these components previously were included in various system certifications, efforts to obtain individual product certifications underscore Klas Telecom’s commitment to the modular and scalable nature of the Voyager product line,” Klas Telecom Chief Technology Officer Ryan Kendrick said. “With certifications for the individual components, composite systems comprised of these components inherit the components’ certifications. This will ensure DoD interoperability and information assurance compliance as the system scales or is reconfigured to meet a variety of deployment platforms and mission requirements.”

The Klas Telecom Voyager networking system of systems provides secure, remote networking capability and consists of a range of common form factor networking modules (routing, switching, cellular, VoIP, and RoIP) with various chassis options for use across the full spectrum of deployment platforms. Voyager’s modular and scalable design ensures that no component goes unused as the system scales in support of small and large teams, and modules can be repurposed in the field saving on cost. Voyager combines best-in-class Cisco routing and switching with a rich product feature set unique to the marketplace and delivers this capability in an industry-leading low SWaP package while maintaining high user port density. Voyager is the optimal tactical networking solution for those that want to communicate more but carry less.
