Special Ops Survivors Staff and Board Members are Attending the Largest Special Operations Forces Industry Conference

Special Ops Survivors, the only organization supporting Special Operations surviving spouses, has been invited to attend the highly-anticipated Special Operations Forces Industry Conference held May 23–26, 2016 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida.

San Diego, California (February 18, 2016) – Special Ops Survivors is the only nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to serving surviving spouses of active duty Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Special Operations personnel who have died in combat or training since January 1, 1980. The organization is sending both staff and board of directors’ representation to this year’s Special Operations Forces Industry Conference held May 23–26, 2016 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida.

The highly-sought after conference draws thousands of attendees and is the largest event in the Special Operations Forces industry. The event sold out nearly 11 months in advance and has more than 400 companies on a wait list to be exhibitors at the conference. The event provides a forum for the military, including leaders from the United States Special Operations Command, and partner nations, government, academia, and industry stakeholders to network and discuss how to best support global Special Operations Forces in today’s environment.

Special Ops Survivors representatives are attending to promote the organization and its services, share materials and build new partnerships. The organization’s mission is to embrace and empower surviving spouses of fallen Special Operations personnel to build healthy post-loss futures as they transition to their new lives by providing individual, group, and peer-to-peer emotional support as well as individual financial support. Special Ops Survivors works collaboratively with other organizations supporting Special Operation Gold Star families.

“We are honored to be included in such a prestigious event and to be able to share the impact of the work we do with Special Operations surviving spouses,” says Sara Wingerath-Schlanger, executive director of Special Ops Survivors. “The conference will bring us the opportunity to network with others in the Special Operations Forces industry, learn from conference workshops, and represent the needs of the community of surviving spouses we serve.”

Special Ops Survivors’ programs are currently serving survivors more than 200 survivors across 37 states. To learn more about the organization and its services, visit Special Ops Survivors
