Green Ocean, a Dutch-based company, has developed absorbent made of natural non-asbestos mineral fibres with nano-reinforcement that shows unmatched results in cleaning oil spills.
Existing absorbing solutions are rather ineffective and slow, in addition, sorbents must be disposed in a saturated condition that is, being burnt or buried in a landfill. Such disposal methods are both costly and damaging for the environment.
Green Ocean products absorb oil 3 times faster and 3 times more than any existing solution on the market. One gram of Green Ocean filler can absorb up to 50 grams of oil, synthetic absorbents soak up 14 grams maximum. 99% of the absorption takes place in the first 15 minutes while typical synthetic absorbents soak up just about 30-35%. In addition Green Ocean absorbents are fully recyclable, as oil can be squeezed out, dramatically saving costs on disposal.

Safety regulations on having spill kits at workplace are sometimes neglected because spill kits are bulky and far from being user-friendly. Green Ocean came up with brilliant solution: to pack the absorbent pillows inside the absorbent sock. The company calls it “lifebuoy for spills”.

Due to superior absorption of Green Ocean’s filler, the compact kit absorbs 20 litres of most common industrial liquids – oils, water, solvents, coolants and more.
Thanks to its round shape it can be hanged on the wall, on a prominent place, for fast reach in case of incident.
Slips, trips and falls are leading causes of work-related injuries and workers’ compensation claims. Facilities where spills are common should have a floor safety plan in place, and a crucial element within that plan is what product is used to clean up spills.
