Ingenious Solution for Product Waste in Salons and Spas hits the Market

LOS ANGELES. July 5, 2016 – The WASTE NOT NUT (WNN) is an inverted bottle system designed to make it easier to drain product stuck at the bottom of bottles –shampoos, conditioners, and lotions. A bottle’s innate design makes gravity work against the user, leaving unused product at the bottom. As more product is used, the farther the separation from the spout and the more difficult to squeeze or shake it out. Even pump bottles invariably leave the last few ounces as “un-pumpable” waste leaving no other alternative but to throw away what adds up to hundreds of dollars worth of beauty product every year.

“As an esthetician, I use a lot of wonderful product, most of which is very expensive. For that reason, I always want to use every single drop. I've tried shaking, balancing, and I've even resorted to cutting bottles open, none of which look very professional to the client. Since I've started using Waste Not Nut, life has been so much easier and depending on my workload, it's helped me around 100 dollars a week in product,” Waste Not Nut User, Esthetician, explains.

The WNN is not only useful for saving expensive beauty products that are stuck at the bottom of bottles, it is also an important missing link for recycling. Since recycling programs reject bottles with even the slightest amount of product in them, WNN is a practical way to ensure that all of your bottles are completely empty before they go in the recycling bin.

The WNN comes in two sizes: Large for bottles that are 16 ounces to one gallon and small for one-ounce to 18-ounce bottles. They can be used to prep or empty a variety of bottles like shampoos, lotions, and massage oils . Each WNN is composed of a flexible plastic ring in the shape of a nut (the hardware fastener) and a small plastic jar that is recyclable, reusable, dishwasher-safe, and FDA approved. A bottle fits inverted like a bolt through the nut, making it possible to let the bottle drain its remaining contents into the jar without falling over and making a mess.

Balembois started working on the Waste Not Nut in 2012. Eve and her husband/business partner, Vincent, are dedicated to maintaining an ecologically sound business model and have already developed hundreds of eco-friendly, working prototypes. In October 2015, they ran a successful a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to bring the WNN to market. After a successful first production run, they are looking to expand the business by reaching out to buyers and distributors to spread awareness about their product.
