In 2012, Sharon Rabi, a recent graduate in electrical engineering and physics, received a very short, unflattering haircut. Reluctantly, she bought a straightener and could not believe how incredibly difficult and time-consuming it was to use, especially as a busy mother of two young children.
When Sharon and her father, also an engineer, learned that the flat iron was patented in 1909, their curiosity ignited. After 3 years of research, failed experiments, and optimization, they developed the world’s first 3D hair straightening brush, named after Sharon’s younger sister, DAFNI.
They launched the brush in September 2015 when a simple demo video Sharon made gained 120 million views organically.
