BBI Solutions launches high purity Intrinsic Factor

BBI Solutions (BBI) has announced the launch of its high purity Intrinsic Factor protein for the detection of vitamin B12.

Primarily used in the diagnosis of pernicious anaemia, a condition caused by a vitamin B12 deficiency, Intrinsic Factor has a high affinity and specificity to vitamin B12, which makes it ideal for use in immunoassays.

The vitamin B12 testing market is growing resulting in an increased demand for high purity Intrinsic Factor, however supplies have been limited, making the supply chain a challenge for IVD companies. BBI has met this challenge by rapidly developing a product that meets the technical specifications required for immunoassays and can be produced at sufficient scale to meet the future demands of the market.

The only commercial manufacturer of the protein today, BBI’s porcine Intrinsic Factor offers manufacturers a purity of >95%, with proven performance, and it is fully manufactured at its Blaenavon facility in the UK, providing the supply security the market seeks.

BBI’s Intrinsic Factor is available for testing now; customers can find out more or request an evaluation sample via the company’s website www.bbisolutions.com/intrinsic-factor
