AESKU.GROUP: Improved support in North America

Interview with Dr. Torsten Matthias, founder and owner of the AESKU.GROUP

Q: Please describe the AESKU North America organization.

A: In 2011 the AESKU.GROUP opened its North America distribution and support center in Oakland, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. This operation is headed by Bruno Larida,  Vice President - Country Manager.

Q: Why did you choose this location?

A: Because the Bay Area is the largest Biotech Hub in the world and for many reasons: the Bay Area, with its prestigious universities, like Berkeley, Stanford and UCSF has one of the highest numbers of Nobel Price Laureates in the scientific field. It hosts a vibrant research hub, with more than 15,000 people in bioscience related jobs. This location gives AESKU access to a pool of highly-skilled employees, and a network of researchers and key opinion leaders to collaborate with in the autoimmune disease field.

Our Oakland facilities host AESKU’s North America headquarters. With its highly-trained personnel AESKU provides technical support to our North America customers, sales and marketing, logistics, accounting and finance services.

Q: How will you get the AESKU name out?

A: Mainly by the quality and the innovation level of our products. AESKU works in collaboration with U.S. and Canadian key opinion leaders to perform studies, evaluations and publications that support our quality claims and the performance of the AESKU products.

In addition, AESKU is promoted across social media, patient support groups, professional and scientific magazines and even product placements in TV shows like HOUSE M.D. (Fox) and Grey’s Anatomy (ABC).

AESKU’s products are also displayed during industry related shows and scientific conferences like the AACC multiple times a year.

Q: Tell us about your new facilities in Buffalo, New York.

A: In 2014 the AESKU.GROUP opened brand-new manufacturing and R&D facilities at the heart of the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute. This Institute (HWI) is an independent, not-for-profit, biomedical research facility located in the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

These facilities are headed by Dr. Vijay Kumar, a faculty member at the University at Buffalo.

Kumar is in charge of the development of IFA assays with state of the art equipment, including tissue sectioning to help in the diagnosis of organ specific autoimmune disease and HEp-2 Anti-Nuclear Antibodies assay to help in the diagnosis of systemic autoimmune diseases. These assays are meant to be processed manually or via the automated AESKU HELMED or HELIOS systems.

AESKU has been selected as a member of the newly established New York Genomic Medicine Network, a collaboration between the NY Genome Center in Manhattan and UB, specifically its Center for Computational Research.

AESKU now has access to a network of highly-skilled scientists and key opinion leaders on the East Coast.

Q: How do you see the future for the AESKU.GROUP?

A: The future is bright, especially for our North America organization. We are now able to give our customers even more technical support and timely products manufactured in the U.S. More new markers and systems are coming and will soon be released to help our customers and their patients improve their lives.

Stay tuned!
