AUVSI's Unmanned Systems 2016

EPSON'S A351 ACCELEROMETER

SAN JOSE, CA – May 2, 2016 – Epson, the leading manufacturer of Quartz MEMS inertial sensors, has released a new accelerometer product, the A351.  Targeting industrial applications such as seismic monitoring, survey and equipment instrumentation, Epson designed the A351 for rapid integration into existing systems requiring acceleration sensing.  The product will be shown for the first time publicly at AUVSI’s Xponential 2016, the world's largest international exposition of unmanned systems to be held from May 2nd – 5th in New Orleans, LA, USA.

Leveraging success in seismic and industrial sensing markets with the current A350 product, the A351 offers lower noise, higher resolution, enhanced non-linearity and excellent long-term stability – four critical parameters for the seismic and survey markets.  The A351 also incorporates several enhancements that make it suitable for use in more dynamic applications such as unmanned vehicle guidance, including higher data output rates, increased sensor bandwidth and selectable per-axis output format flexibility.

Capable of functioning as a traditional tri-axis accelerometer for detecting vibration and linear acceleration, or as an inclinometer for sensing inclination in three-axes, the A351enables measurement bandwidths of up to 100Hz with a data output rate of up to 1 KHz.  Specifically addressing the needs of seismic and industrial sensing customers, the A351 facilitates the elimination of costly components such as high-resolution A-D converters, plus saves engineering resources spent on wiring and noise reduction challenges.

“The A351 is a versatile accelerometer product that delivers high performance whether installed in downhole drills or high-altitude unmanned aircraft,” says David Gaber, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Epson Electronics America.  “With the inherent stability and high-resolution of Epson’s Quartz MEMS accelerometer technology, the A351 is the most accurate compact accelerometer available today.”
