Natural Products Expo East 2015

Goodbye CO2 Extraction!

COMERG to Unveil New Low Pressure Low Temperature Extraction Technology at Natural Products Expo East

Booth 9139

New Technology has Up to Six Times Higher Yield, Up to Three Times Faster, and Up to Six Times Cheaper than its Carbon Dioxide Competitors

At booth 9139, COMERG, which creates natural extracts for food, pharmacy and perfumery products, will unveil its breakthrough extraction and purification technology which is a significantly better alternative to carbon dioxide (CO2) at the Natural Products Expo East being held September 17-19 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland.

The new Low Pressure Extraction (LPE) technology, which COMERG calls Atomic, is not only significantly safer, but Atomic technology produces a higher yield, it is faster to produce, and it is less expensive than current carbon dioxide machines.

“Our new Low Pressure Extraction technology is a game-changer for the food, pharmacy and perfume industries because it can produce a six times higher yield than the CO2 technology in one-third of the time, while costing only one-sixth of the cost of CO2 machines”, COMERG President Dr. George Stantchev said. “We’re excited to introduce LPE and COMERG’s Atomic at the Natural Products Expo East and invite everyone to visit our booth to see what we offer, both in regards to processing equipment and the naturals themselves.”

Atomic combines two separate carbon dioxide processes into one while creating a significantly greater yield in a fraction of the time (an example 40-minute cycle versus 120-minute cycle for a standard carbon dioxide process). Unlike carbon dioxide industrial size machines COMERG’s Atomic LPE technology is only a fraction in cost. COMERG is also offering to do extractions for companies not wishing to purchase their own machine. Samples of natural extracts can be viewed at the COMERG booth #9139.

How does LPE work?

Low Pressure Extraction combines novel extraction methods based on TFE (tetrafluoroethane). TFE has long been overlooked to extract a wide range of compounds since the industry adopted carbon dioxide and other methods. TFEs are extremely inert and only decompose under extreme conditions, therefore leaving no residue. They can be produced in high purity on a large scale, and therefore are cheap. Since the critical pressures and temperatures are much lower than carbon dioxide, construction of low pressure and low temperature apparatus can be more selective thereby reducing additional steps need with carbon dioxide: resulting in significantly reduced Capital and Operating Expenditures. TFEs are more efficient polar solvent at low pressures than carbon dioxide and the degradation of materials is much less to minimal, thus yielding much improved extraction results for sensitive natural products.

Additional facts about COMERG’s Atomic LPE Technology:

  • Up to 80% savings of CO2 extractor from energy and cost

  • Higher yields on shorter run times with cleaner product result

  • Higher solubility of output for use in food, drinks and medicine

  • Able to handle fragile natural ingredients with less degradation

  • Low Maintenance due better design and construction

  • Fraction of energy needed during processing

  • Organic with no solvent residue in the final product

  • Fire Safe due to GRAS property of the solvent

  • Low Pressure and high safety technology

  • Low Temperature liquefied gas extraction

  • Full solvent recovery with no production losses

  • Allows extraction of fresh and even moisturized product

  • Unique extraction method that keeps full flavor and aroma

  • Preserves the full nutritional significance of the ingredients

Media is invited to schedule a time to meet with COMERG’s President, Dr. George Stantchev, at booth #9139, or may stop by at any time and he will be happy to discuss this breakthrough technology as his schedule permits.
