Panel Discussion - Public Private Partnerships: Successful Desal's Common Denominator - 11:00am-12:30pm - Room 6B

Governments around the world are looking to reduce direct expenditure and are turning to Public-private partnerships to deliver services. This panel will consider how relevant the P3 model is in delivering desalinated water at an affordable cost to a thirsty world. The panel will seek to establish the common denominator in successful P3 Desal projects and compare this model of service delivery to the alternative of Governments developing, owning and operating plants. In assessing the P3 model, the impact of suitable risk allocation, pace of introduction of new technology, the changing financial services sector which need to be relied on to provide much of the long tenor funding for these capital intensive projects will all be taken into account.
